Phases: Innovation in infectious disease treatment (II)

30 de October de 2024

At Cognodata, we continue to lead innovation in the treatment of infectious diseases using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). Thanks to our collaboration with Red.es, we have made progress in the development of generative systems that have the potential to transform the treatment of these diseases. Throughout the project, and with the support of Hospital Povisa and the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM), we have reached key milestones in each phase, from the exploration of algorithms to the creation of a pilot platform.

Here are the achievements of the three most recent phases of this exciting project.

4th Phase: Algorithm optimisation and validation.

In this phase, we refined the AI algorithms developed in previous stages. The implementation of a proof of concept (POC) in collaboration with Hospital Povisa allowed us to validate and improve our pilot platform focused on viral diseases.

The SCAI 2.0 and SBL 2.0 algorithms were optimised to accurately model infections, enabling personalised treatments. This POC was instrumental in fine-tuning the algorithms in a real-world environment and adapting them to the needs of each patient.

At the end of this fourth phase, we achieved:

  • Perfection of the pilot platform.
  • Development of the SCAI and SBL 2.0 algorithms.
  • Validation of the platform with a POC in a real environment.

5th Phase: Evolution of the MVP and Dynamic Simulations.

The fifth phase progressed to the evolution of MVP 2 and new POCs, focusing on a bacterial infectious disease. Using real-time dynamic simulations, we modelled the evolution of the disease, improving treatment accuracy and scenario prediction.

An adaptive control system for bacterial infections was implemented, optimising the organism’s response. The second POC at Povisa Hospital was key to fine-tune the models, providing a more accurate view of the disease.

At the end of this fifth phase, we achieved:

  • Development of dynamic simulations.
  • Implementation of intelligent adaptive control algorithms.
  • Validation of the platform with POC 2.

Phase 6: Technical review and quality assurance.

The sixth and final phase focused on settling the technical debt and reviewing the technical and functional documentation. We ensured the correct integration of all functionalities and code consistency, applying the Cognodata Hybrid Agile methodology. In this way, we ensured that the platform met the high standards of the healthcare sector.

At the end of this sixth phase, we achieved:

  • Complete integration of all functionalities.
  • Coherence of the developed code.
  • Complete revision of the technical and functional documentation.

With the completion of this phase, we are marking a milestone in innovation in the treatment of infectious diseases with AI, but our journey does not end here. We will continue to explore new technological frontiers to take personalised medicine to a new level.
